Floyd Dehlin, 88, of Beloit, IL, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 21, 1930 in Graceville, Minnesota, the son of Alvin and Ellen (Hanson) Dehlin. Floyd graduated from Moorhead State Teacher’s College in 1952 with a bachelor’s degree in business education. He served his country in the Army from 1952-1954 as a radio and electronic systems specialist. Floyd was a store manager/business owner for over 50 years in Chicago, Morrison and Amboy Illinois. Highlights of his life growing up were hunting and fishing with his brothers and traveling with family as his dad performed his one-man band of 8 instruments that he’d invented and built. He especially enjoyed time with his family during their summer reunions in Detroit Lakes, MN and most recently in Sawyer, MI. In his retirement, Floyd continued to golf, kept-up on current events from around the world and loved reading to preschool children. Surviving Mr. Dehlin is one son Mark (Crystal) Dehlin of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Cindy (Billy) Evick of Franklin, WV and Dawn (Jeremie) Friday of South Beloit, IL; step-son David (Melissa) Brown of Vale, OR; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Steven, Megan, MaCee, Hanna, Michael, Kalee, Isaac and Bryant; and five great-grandchildren, AnnaLyse, Ella, Evylia, Aubrey and Myles. Also surviving are two brothers, Glenn (Joyce) Dehlin of Mobile, AL; Eugene Dehlin of Winona, MN. He is also preceded in death by his parents and five brothers; LaVerne, Leonard, Maynard, Lloyd and Dale Dehlin. Memorial service arrangements are pending.
