COLUMBUS/MADISON- Timothy Rumph, Jr., 80, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 29, 2019.
Timothy was born September 7, 1938 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, the son of Timothy, Sr. and Artie Lee (Sanders) Rumph. He was better known to family and friends as Tim or TH. He received his diploma from Madison East High School in Madison, WI in 1971 and later received an Associate Degree from Madison Area Technical College.
Timothy enlisted in the Air Force in 1956 and was stationed at Truax in Madison, WI. After the Air Force, he joined the U.S. Army before ending his military career in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was honorably discharged from service in 1991. Timothy spent several years working at the VA hospital before he moved to Webcrafters Inc. from where he retired.
Timothy loved to fish, bowl (high game – 290), hunt and drive fast cars. He was an avid fan of old westerns, Steven Seagal movies and the Chicago Bears. He also enjoyed making a secret seasoning mix for fried chicken and fish and playing cards with his friends. Throughout his life, he passed his love of fishing on to his nephew, Davidian, and granddaughter, Gabriella.
Timothy’s greatest pride, love and joy was his family and especially his grandchildren. Timothy married Dianna Manning in September 1958 which made him the proud father of Kevin TH and Tina Patricia. He later married Carolyn Tolson in 1974 which made him the proud father of Cherie Altimette and Timeka Alisha.
Timothy is survived by his children: Tina (Cary) Ruark, Cherie and Timeka; his grandchildren: Carmen (Johnny) Delashaw, Spencer Roberson, Desiree (Tyler) Buckley and Gabriella Abler.
Timothy was the oldest of 14 brothers and sisters. He leaves to cherish in his fond memories six brothers: Otis Burnard “Pete” (Diane) of Madison, WI, Cornell of Sumter, SC , Tramell of Spartanburg, SC, Robert “Rocky”, Theodore, Hertis and two sisters: Marvia Jean and Artie Mae Ellis, all of Orangeburg, SC. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and his mother’s sisters, Marguree Shuler and Emma Ruth Almonds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Timothy Sr. and Artie Lee; siblings: Willie Lee, Hubert, Eugene, James Marvin and Gloria Ann; his sons, Kevin TH and Andrew; and two special sisters in life, Margarett McIntyre and Thelma Shelton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family in care of Carolyn Rumph and sent to Mt. Zion or Foster Funeral & Cremation.
