Obituary

Our Heavenly Father saw fit to reward Barbara “Latrice” Harris with her wings on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, WI. after her valiant fight with Breast Cancer. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through her courageous battle. Latrice was born on March 5,, 1982 in Beloit, Wisconsin to Terrance Montgomery and Tammy (Waylon) Daniels.
Latrice attended Burdge Elementary School, McNeel Middle School and graduated from Beloit Memorial High School the proud Class of 2000, where she was active in Youth 2 Youth, DECA Club and the Minority Excellence Organization (MEO) before attending the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, where she obtained her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Social Work. She continued her lifelong love of learning, obtaining her Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. She worked for Bonner School District in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services, Milwaukee, WI; Rock County Human Services, Janesville, WI; Community Action Inc, Beloit, WI; School District of Delavan, Delavan, WI; and she was currently employed by the School District of Beloit at Cunningham Intermediate School as a school social worker and advisor for the Junior National Honor Society.
Latrice accepted Christ at an early age (14), received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and continued her faith walk with him until the end. She loved God and loved to praise him through song and dance. She would often come to meetings at work humming a song. She was a member of New Covenant Deliverance Tabernacle in Beloit, Wisconsin, under the leadership of the Late Pastor Ernest K. and Susan C. Roman where she served faithfully as a member of the New Covenant Youth Council Y2K (Youth Working 2gether in the Kingdom). She loved working with the youth and young adults. Latrice was active in all aspects of church life. She loved spending time communing with the Lord, whether it was meditating, praying, studying the word or spreading the goodness of Jesus. She would often say, “Let’s pray about it and leave it in God’s hands.”
In 2014 she joined Life Church Assembly of God under the leadership of Pastor Kevin Kringle where she served in Tots Life and the Awana’s Youth Ministries.
Latrice was known for her ease in conversations with total strangers, some may be surprised to learn of the extreme shyness in her youth. Yet even as a child, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even today are being impacted by her display of love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and love, will never be forgotten. Latrice married the love her life, Marcus E. Harris on September 2, 2006 and the two became one flesh. They were both godly young people; one prayed and the other had faith. She leaves to cherish her beautiful smile: her husband of 12 years, Marcus Earl Harris, Beloit, WI.; two beautiful children: Makyah and Micah Harris, of Beloit, WI; parents: Terrance Montgomery, of Barstow, CA; and Tammy (Waylon) Daniel, of Beloit, WI; three brothers; Lance Moore, Janesville, WI; Trez Daniel and Antonio Echoles of Beloit, WI; one sister, Porsche Echoles of Beloit, WI. She was the amazing aunt to: Olivia Moore, of Janesville, WI; and Amayah Daniel and Xzavier Boyd, both of Beloit WI. Paternal Grandparents, Ruth and Jasper Montgomery, of Beloit, WI; and Maternal Grandmother Barbara (Granny) Payton of Beloit, W.I. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, amazing friends and co-workers. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Jacob Payton and one uncle, Henry (Junebug) Jackson. Celebration of Life- Saturday, March 23, 2019. Visitation 10:00 am to 11:00 am - Service at 11:00 am at Life Church, 5910 Elevator Rd., Roscoe, IL. Interment will be at East Lawn Cemetery, 2200 Milwaukee Rd., Beloit, WI. We want to live and enjoy life with  those whom we love. It is only natural that we yearn to see our loved ones again. Christ Jesus promises us that he will restore life to many who have fallen asleep in death.  He states at John 5:28,29 that they will hear his vocie and wake up. They will have the opportunity  to live in a paradise earth. This promised future includes perfect health and everlasting life. Luke 23:43 Psalm 37:29 Revelation 21:3-5

I was lucky to work alongside her briefly at Cunningham. In such a short time I was able to see her pleasant soul and kindness. She will be greatly missed. We are blessed to have her memory as an example of how to be. Hearts are heavy. My sincerest condolences to all who knew and loved her. Praying for comfort.
