Obituary for Landon Bradley

Print
Landon Bradley, 84, was called to be with Lord on Sunday, January 13, 2019 after living long-fulfilled life. Landon was born on June 8, 1934 in Pontotoc, Mississippi to Carl and Callie Bradley. Both parents preceded in him in death. Landon was one of ten children: sisters, Christeen Harrell, Matric Bradley Judon, Listleen (Byron) Gordon: brothers, Floyd (Josephine) Bradley, Carl (Ernestine) Bradley Jr, CB (Dona) Bradley, George (Alberta) Bradley and Jessie (Emma) Bradley. All preceded him in death, including a brother who died in childhood. He is the last of a generation to be called to his heavenly home to be reunited with his parents and siblings.
Landon grew up in Ecru, Mississippi where he attended school. He was part of family with many musical talents that once formed a gospel group. Landon learned about God at an early age while attending services with his family at the Cherry Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Ecru. It was this religious foundation that shaped Landon's character and prepared him for his adult life.
While living in Ecru, Landon met the love of his life for over 50 years, the late Florease Bradley, and they were united in holy matrimony. Landon and Florease moved to Beloit, Wisconsin seeking employment opportunities that would enable them to have a better life.
Landon was a humble, yet charismatic soft-spoken man of few words. He was a loving, devoted and generous husband. There were no children born of this marriage but Landon believed in family and showed his love and support by helping his spouse raise a grandchild, Landon Thompson, from the age of 3 to adulthood.
Landon worked at Fairbanks Morse for 5 years. He later became employed with the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Belvidere, Illinois where he faithfully commuted to work until he retired in 1991.
Landon enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He enjoyed gardening and listening to the blues and gospel music. He loved to travel to Chicago to shop at various stores for hats and clothing. Landon was known for the pride he took in himself to always be well groomed and dressed no matter what the occasion, even if he was just sitting at home. Landon built Chryslers, but he drove Lincolns.
Landon was a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist church and a Masonic Member of the W.B. Kennedy Lodge #3
Due to becoming ill, Landon spent the last 7 years of his life living at Premier Rehabilitation and Nursing in Beloit. Landon never complained. He had a long and fruitful life. He easily adapted to his new environment. Landon loved to play Bingo and participated in other activities at the facility. He enjoyed the attention he got from the Premier staff.
Landon's family is appreciative of the care provided by the Premier staff, Dr. Jack Wang, Dr. Walter Vogel, the staff at Beloit Memorial Hospital, and the Beloit Regional Hospice. Special thanks to Jessie McNeal for the dedication you have shown over the years.
