Obituary for Josephine Bradley (Cobb)

Josephine Bradley transitioned to be with God on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Beloit Memorial Hospital, Beloit, WI. after a short illness.

She was born on May 23, 1932, to John Percy Cobb and Jessie Cobb (Martin) at home, in Pontotoc, MS. She was one of 9 children born to this couple.

A lifelong Christian, Josephine accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Cherry Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Ecru, MS. She attended Ecru High School as a youth.

Josephine married Floyd A. Bradley on November 17, 1951 in Pontotoc, MS. They moved from Mississippi, living a short time with Floyd’s sister, Christine Harrell, in S. Beloit, IL and finally to Beloit, WI. She had several aunts/an uncle, cousins and friends who also moved from Pontotoc, Tupelo and Ecru, MS for work in Beloit.

Josephine was an active long time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 6o years. She is a former member of the Senior Choir and served on various church committees throughout her lifetime. Josephine made sure her children also attended church regularly as youth and believed education was important.

A determined and smart women, Josephine help to support her family by working at the Admiral Corporation, Dana Corporation, General Motors and McCleary, Inc. She retired from McCleary, Inc in the mid 1990’s, but drove people to medical appointments and other places around Beloit for several years.

A favorite pastime of Josephine was shopping! She really loved high heel shoes, suits, jewelry and dressing well. She owned many church hats as well as casual hats. She always attended services at Emmanuel or other events well dressed! Josephine had favorite television shows dating back to “The Edge of Night” and “As the World Turns”. Her current favorite television shows were Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune as well as many of the judge shows. If her favorite television show was on, it was best not to call her until it was over.
