Life Story for Christopher Hartwig

Christopher Hartwig
Lodi/Poynette- Christopher (Chris) P. Hartwig, age 66, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away Wednesday March 21, 2018,at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI, after a three month battle with lung cancer.

He was born on June 21, 1951 at St. Mary’s in Madison, WI to Clarence B. Hartwig and Gloria E. Hartwig (Tegner). On August 18, 1979, he was united in marriage to Laura Ann Guarrero.

Chris graduated from Lodi High School in 1969, and was an army veteran. At his time of passing he was employed by Strander’s Sanitary Services, in Lodi, WI. Chris loved and enjoyed his time working there with the crew and especially his boss, Marc.

Some of the things Chris enjoyed the most in his life were fishing, campfires, having a “few” beers at the local bar, his job, and his beloved family and friends. Those who knew him will remember his infectious laugh, kind spirit, and his willingness to help anyone in need. Even in death, following Chris’s wishes, he was able to donate the gift of sight to help two individuals to see.

Chris is survived by his wife of 38 years, Laura; his son, Christopher Hartwig;his daughters, Amy (Randy) Doyle, Jennifer Moore, and Michelle (Brent) Cummings; his grandchildren Taylor, Lelin, Shane, Rachelle, Cody, and Kennedy; and many other relatives and friends.

Chris was preceded in death by his mother; father; step-mother, Eleanor Hartwig, and his three brothers, Clarence “Junior/Clancy”, John “Jack”, and Paul Dean.

Per Chris’s request, there will not be a funeral service, but instead, a “Celebration of Life” to be held at a later time.
