Life Story for Doreen Shannon
Doreen Marie Shannon was born on June 19, 1958 in Chicago, Il and passed away on January 17, 2018 in Madison, WI.
Although Doreen was born in Chicago, she moved to Madison, WI in the early 80’s with Lewis and their family. Throughout her life, she was a big supporter to her brothers Kelly, Kenny, Larry, Chariss and Lil Tony. She was also a great worker. Doreen had numerous jobs that she loved and enjoyed. If you were to cross her path, you knew you had gained a great friend.
Outside of work, Doreen loved getting together with her family and friends cooking and listening to music. That was one thing about Doreen she made sure you went home with a full stomach and a smile on your face.
She is survived by her grandmother Genevieve Haynes, Doreen’s loving partner Felix Allen, her sister Arleen Vanhook, her brother Verdell Shannon. She also leaves behind her only daughter Tamara Shannon, 2 sons, Lewis Shannon and John Shannon, 3 Godsons, Jayton Bray, Carl and Tyrone McClarn whom she raised as her own. Doreen will further be missed by six granddaughters Tanaya, Nekeisha, Diamond, Adeja, Akaid, and Tatianna; six grandsons Romell, Romaine, Little Lewis, Dejon, Jonathan and Jalen; seven great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. She is welcomed in the afterlife by her mother Beatrice Harris, her father Ernest Shannon and her mother-in-law Beverly Blevins.
Doreen was a 6 year survivor of lung cancer. No matter what battles she faced or how sick she was, she always kept a smile on her face and said, “I ain’t going nowhere and everything going o be alright, never say ‘Good Bye’, just know I’ll see you later, I love you.”
